WORK/LIFE BALANCE ISN’T ENOUGH. At The LBA Group, we all want work/life “success,” so we have created an environment that considers and honors the demands of each employee’s personal life. Most people work towards success in their careers so they can achieve success in life as well, in whatever way they choose to define it. To this end, we focus on treating people as responsible professionals, offering flexibility wherever possible, and ensuring that we staff appropriately so no one has to consistently work overtime. And since we’re a regional firm, only minimal, if any, travel is needed.

BUSY SEASON – A NEW APPROACH. Anyone who has been in public accounting will likely tell you that January through April in our industry is traditionally grueling. The simple truth is that a lot of work has to get done in a very compressed period of time. We don’t have a choice about that. So we try to focus on what we do have choices about and make it as efficient and effective and balanced a time as possible. We operate in a paperless, high tech environment, so all client information is at your fingertips. We focus on the real goal, which is to get a quality product out of the door as efficiently as possible, not on an “hours worked” goal, which has traditionally been the approach. Each individual is responsible for doing a quality job and meeting their own project goals. Our staff has the freedom to choose when they are going to work any additional hours that may be required to achieve their busy season goals and to earn bonuses. We do not require our staff to work on Saturdays, though several choose to do so. During our busy season, our staff works an average of 50 to 55 hours per week for 10 to 12 weeks. The remainder of the year is a standard 40-hour work week.

BENEFITS AND PERKS at The LBA Group are numerous and continuous. We offer several healthcare options through United Health Care so we have programs to meet each employee’s particular needs ranging from high deductible plans to an HMO.  We also offer affordable and flexible dental insurance through Metlife, a health savings account (HSA), flexible spending account for health and dependent care, and flexible summer schedules. The LBA Group pays for life insurance, short term disability and long term disability for all employees. We offer a 401(k) contribution plan in which we contribute 3% of your salary whether you elect to contribute personally or not. On the “feel good amenities side”, we have fresh food options delivered throughout the year and keep our kitchen stocked with soft drinks and snacks. All employees have paid parking in our attached, covered garage. We also pay client referral fees, employee referral fees, and annual bonuses in addition to offering highly competitive salaries. At The LBA Group, we enjoy 15 days of paid time off plus nine holidays each year. We do an annual retreat with the entire firm, and host various social and networking events throughout the year. Additionally, if you earn your CPA license while working for The LBA Group, we recognize your achievement by giving you an additional 40 hours of paid time off, or the cash equivalent – which ever you prefer.

FAMILY is how we see ourselves and how we feel about each other. Even though we are the largest local accounting, consulting and wealth advisory firm in Jacksonville, the environment has the warmth and friendliness of a much smaller firm.
